Library & Archival Collections Manager

Bok Tower Gardens, a National Historic Landmark, is currently seeking a Librarian/Archivist who oversees all operations of the Anton Brees Carillon Library (ABCL) and Chao Research Center Archives (CRC). The ABCL houses materials related to the carillon art and the professionals that play them including books and serials, a large collection of musical scores and a/v recordings, vertical files, personal collections of prominent carillons, and the archives of the Guild of Carillonneurs in North America (GCNA).


  • Collection development
  • Management of in-kind donations to the library & archives
  • Re-cataloging of older items and cataloging new acquisitions, including non-book materials
  • Maintaining the automated library system
  • Digitization and digital archiving in CONTENTdm
  • Proper storage and handling of all materials
  • Facilitating the research inquiries


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, especially writing skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Comfortable with public speaking in a professional setting


  • Bachelor's degree required; Master of Library Science degree from an ALA-accredited graduate school preferred
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a library; 3-5 years' experience in a special library or academic research library preferred
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with: evaluating and selecting rare books and manuscripts, processing collections, care of historical materials, digital initiatives and preservation
  • Experience in grant writing
  • Archives management
  • Ability to independently manage, organize and track progress against annual activities
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering quality service
  • Consistent accuracy and attention to detail while maintaining a high level of productivity


  • Basic knowledge of music
  • Knowledge of CONTENTdm and PastPerfect
  • Special collections experience in an academic or special library setting


  • Ability to climb stairs, bend and reach for filing and lift up to 40 lbs.
